Flying
My interest in aviation started at a fairly unreasonable age, long before I had any idea how an aeroplane actually worked. I spent countless hours in FSX trying to get the Queen of the Skies into the air, usually with more enthusiasm than understanding and a healthy disregard for whether the thing would ever make it back onto the runway.
Somehow, that turned into an obsession. Over time I went from clicking every plane on FlightRadar24, to building a desk cockpit and flying those routes myself. Starting with nothing more than a keyboard and mouse, it has slowly evolved into a constantly growing home cockpit that will probably never actually be finished.
These days I spend most of my time flying on the Vatsim network in MSFS 2024, where I enjoy trying to recreate real-world operations as closely as possible. I’m equally fascinated by the other side of the radio, having developed a particular interest in ATC and even gaining a controller rating along the way.
After several thousand hours learning different aircraft, the Airbus A3XX family remains my favourite (stick>yoke). I enjoy the challenge of following real airline procedures, flying real-world routes, and trying to avoid the dreaded -500fpm arrival, which I assume is considered a successful landing somewhere in the Ryanair training manual.
